Boxing
While people have fought in hand-to-hand combat since before the dawn of history, the origin of boxing as an organized sport may be its acceptance by the ancient Greeks as an Olympic game in BC 688. Boxing evolved from 16th- and 18th-century prizefights, largely in Great Britain, to the forerunner of modern boxing in the mid-19th century, again initially in Great Britain and later in the United States.

Guy was a bully, his two kids banged up for murder, real turd
One seriously hard man. Nobody can take that away from him, whatever you think.
Nonce!
Not someone u wanna mess with
No, he’d bum you otherwise.
Joe was trained to carry his left low, which resulted in being ko'd by Max Schmeling 🥊
Rapist alcoholic loser
Jack Blackburn
Esse vídeo é uma verdadeira jóia, man!!!
when i first saw this movie 25 years ago i thought this was joe louis. i was just learning about boxing history and it was confusing
Whatever happened to the shark proof pumps
Can you fit through that chair lad?
At the end, when the coach told Ali to block the cross with his right hand, what if the opponent throws a left hook? Wouldn’t he just take a direct hit?
in the old school cross-armed guard, you would raise the right arm with it horizontally in front of your face so that your right tricep blocked the left hook
@@bluesytreble1405 Yeah that makes sense, but wouldn’t that expose you to a liver shot? What if the opponent decides to liver hook instead of the head?
@@GloomyStvnc Much like the philly shell, the left arm is wrapped around your torso, with your left glove over your liver to form a static block. The cross guard is a very defensive guard.
@@bluesytreble1405 but in this case, the left arm would be in use (because of the jab) so he wouldn’t have the left arm to protect. So isn’t he just prone to a counter punch?
The true greatest heavyweight champion of all time!!!
Fixed to hell and back.
yeah whatever, can we have this fight without the fucking music? Twat
Ive not seen a comment anywhere to confirm that pricey was ever beaten in a street brawl- and he worked up and down the uk on the roads and took on all comers
In my opinion he wouldve destroyed mclean , shaw , donnie the bull and any other you care to mention Although it would probably have been a good scrap between him and sykes
It could have gone along the lines- 2 minutes scrapping followed by a couple of pints- back to the scrapping and may the best man win😂
Im on a roll- four men i wouldve liked to see in action( and you would think there was.cctv) would be Ernie bewick Richie horsley Lee duffy John "awsome" anderson
Hes nothing special....i think i could beat this guy in his prime...i think the average man in the atreet today could deal with him no problem.
Da onorare per lo spirito combattivo,la forza e la cattiveria che mettevano nei match....ma i pugili di quell'epoca combattessero contro un pugile di basso livello di 40 anni dopo non sarebbero durati un round.
The Comb-Over King was a tough brawler but he couldn’t box for toffee.
A classic
A champion can never be considered - compete, when he avoided black fighters of his era .
Ah very tough man for sure but stander was unfazed by his reputation or toughness
Roy shaw very hard man god rest him 🙏
All the rumours of him being a nonce, absolutely no evidence whatsoever. Has anyone ever come forward, that ll be a no then. Urban Myth.
He was a bummer and so are you.
I want to see more vintage Joe Louis training. Matter o fact I want to see Ray Leonard’s i hope it exists. This is historical
its from a movie
There's plenty of video on UA-cam of Louis training. Other old time fighters too.
Some ppl saying this was roys toughest fight? With a man that was obv payed off to not hurt him? Saw the same thing with that nonce decca heggie and julius francis for the guvnor belt. Makes a mockery of the unlicenced game. Why not let them just fight if their that good? Bc any half decent boxer even 10yrs past prime would wipe the floor with these windmill specialists. When the nonce decca heggie finally fought gary firby and it wasnt rigged he got ko'd in the first round Point proven.....
This guy died in 1918, over 100 years ago. Such a different time in these days. When men were men and people were genuine.
1.12 naw nawww
Who's that second coach🗿
Así no entrenaba Marciano
If Sykes had of continued boxing anyway someone like Tyson , Bruno or Lewis would have smashed him ,
Never lost ❤
Says who?
@@garybanks-mu9ik Don't they all say it?
4 plates each side in prison. Crap diet and no supplements is impressive
The man who hit harder than anyone according to George foreman
Beautiful video.
There are many pro fighters over the last century and change who were highly skilled, well trained, put fine combinations together and had advanced defensive skills. But there are only a few I've seen whose punches seem to have death in them. Tyson's punches seemed different. Foreman and Shavers also. Joe Louis and Marciano and Dempsey as well. Watching this video of a has-been, fat, middle aged guy less than a decade from death, I see death even in his feints. I'd have hated to be hit by John L!
That's a good call. You can tell with him his punches aimed to hurt you.
Stander had a broken rib going into the fight apparently.
Lol this boxing match scene looks more realistic than anything current movies put out.
This too true 😂😂
just shows you give a child no love just a clip round the ear you impact him forever regardless of his behaviour right up to being homeless alcoholic i honestly felt he had no love all his life
Gobshite
" Remember that...Balance, the secret of great fighter"
He liked a beer as much as throwing a punch. No doubt he had many free nights and pints outta people because of his reputation. But after them story's cockrial sed. .. Put me right off him.. And he had Tha tenna outa purse
I think its a great idea to never rape someone, because once youve done a rape, like Mr Skyes, you cant UN-become a rapist.
Stander died a few months ago. RIP.
Hardest MAN ever in UK FACT I new him and his exploits he destroyed them all.
He lost a couple though too although drink was involved
He didn't fight them all stop lying. So he fought hard men who were around before he was born, Get a grip big Frank Mitchell probably would have beat him with ease
I think truly modern boxing didn't really start until the 1920's or so. And you always hear people talk about how guys from earlier days, especially from the turn of the century, would have been beaten badly by modern fighters. And it is probably true, concerning the very beginning of the fight game, just coming out of the bare knuckle days. BUT, how do you think modern guys would have did with these brawlers, fighting under THEIR rules? I think it goes both ways.
Exactly. People developed skills for the rules of the day. Back then feinting a guy out of position and grappling and endurance were the marks of a champion.
Classic fight. Shaw's toughest & best fight.
This is beautiful.
When I went to guys Marsh on a section 18 I had to do a anger management course, we were shown a video of Paul sykes and told this will be you if you don't sort yourself out I remember thinking I don't want to be any thing like him my one and only time in prison thanks to that film
Excellent Episode....
Ron Stander was a good fighter in his day.
Bummer
